Make a caterpillar? You have to be a butterfly. <joke>

Indeed. The butterflies have returned from wherever they go during the summer and they are performing mating dances in our back yard. Soon they will lay eggs, so there will be more caterpillars next spring.

ravenous little guys, but I like them al the same ^^ nice shot. They are wonderful at trickery too, those protrusions are just for display not dangerous at all to the touch. He looks awfully shiny...did you polish him before his photo shoot? Looks very healthy XD

Thank you! I thought for sure they would at least be bitter or something, but they were actually pretty tasty. Well... not to me LOL, there is no way I would eat one of those, but despite the warning colors and the toxic look of these caterpillars, some birds seemed to like them. Life is harsh for a caterpillar.

I agree. I love the big fuzzy ones. We get them a lot here. Oh! And woolly bears are also awesome. I can't wait to take some pictures of them come this fall. I just got a new camera. :)

Thank you. Yes they very colorful. We had a lot of them on some bushes in the back yard, at least until the birds found then /cry. They all had bright orange and white, but the blue varied from caterpillar to caterpillar from light grey to the blue you see in the picture.

Interestingly, the caterpillar's stripes vary from grey to blue from catipillar to catipillar. The one in the picture was very blue. However, the adults only seem to have orange and grey... no blue :(
